Beginning Your Feminine Reclamation Journey

When I talk about "Feminine Reclamation," I am speaking of a narrative that challenges the heroic quests often celebrated in literature and media. It’s a narrative that is inherently inward-focused, compared to the outward conquests of the hero's journey. This journey is about rediscovering the fragmented pieces of our identity, uniting them into a cohesive whole, and finding the essence of who we truly are. 

Feminine Reclamation is, at its core, the heroine's journey. Unlike its male counterpart, this journey is less about conquering external challenges and more about the internal exploration of our own feelings, needs and desires. It's about recognizing, recovering, and reintegrating the parts of ourselves that have been lost or neglected, particularly as we navigate the role of wife and mother. 

Our modern-day roles and responsibilities often scatter these essential pieces of self. Whether it's the relentless demands of being a super-mom in a society without built-in support networks, or the stress of juggling professional and personal duties, the result is often a fragmentation of identity that leaves us yearning for wholeness and meaning.

Why Feminine Reclamation Matters

This journey is crucial for several reasons. First, it allows us to reclaim the power of self-knowledge and desire that are essential for personal satisfaction and well-being. In a culture that glorifies masculine traits (e.g., competition, self-reliance, control, etc.) we often suppress feminine traits like community, emotional expression, and creativity. This imbalance creates a disconnect between who we are and who we are pressured to be.

Reconnecting with these neglected aspects doesn't just benefit us as individuals - it enriches our roles as partners, caregivers, and community members. When we nurture our own needs and desires, we foster a better life for ourselves and everyone around us.


How To Reclaim

1. Establish Boundaries: 

The journey begins by setting personal boundaries to carve out space for self-care. This could be as simple as a daily ritual (such as a solitary bubble bath) protected against intrusions, thereby laying the groundwork for reclaiming personal space.

2. Embrace Self-Care: 

Devote time to activities that recharge you - whether that's yoga, meditation, or simply taking a walk in nature. Self-care is not an indulgence but a vital part of maintaining your well-being.

3. Rekindle Passion and Creativity: 

Identify what fills you with energy and passion (dancing, painting, singing, etc.) and pursue these activities without guilt or reservation. Follow your "fuck yes" feeling to ensure you're energetically aligned with what you truly love.

4. Feel Your Feelings: 

Reconnect with your emotions and allow them to move through you. Emotional alchemy involves transforming discomfort and pain into growth and change, starting with acknowledging and owning your emotions.

5. Overcome Victimhood:

Shift from a victim mentality, where life happens to you, to owning your journey and cultivating internal strength. This means taking responsibility for your emotions and happiness without blaming external factors.


Feminine Reclamation is about rewriting the narrative of our lives from one of martyrdom and obligation to one of empowerment and joy.

By focusing inward and engaging in practices that honor both our essence and energy, we can renew and rejoice in our identities. This journey, while deeply personal, has the power to transform not only our lives but also ripple out to the communities and loved ones around us. Through reclamation, we uncover the ecstatic potential inherent in living as our truest selves.
